Throughout this semester, one large theme has taken place when studying Christ. That is one of healing. Throughout the scriptures, Jesus Christ has sought to help and heal us of our infirmities, spiritual and physical. The five main categories explored are healing from our sins, sickness, physical death, spiritual death, and eternity.

Jesus helped us heal from our sins throughout the entirety of scripture and our lives. He gives us the ability to repent through a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Without Christ’s sacrifice, none of us would be free from our sins, making us all subject to our imperfections. Our Heavenly Father knew we would be an imperfect people. He knew that we would make mistakes and knew that we would not be proud of them. He sent down His son, Jesus Christ, to die for us so we may become more like Him. Through Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice, we can fulfill our parts in the Plan of Salvation. That is the healing we receive from Christ. Without our loving brother, we would be doomed to walk the Earth with our sins, big and small, until we died. There would be no meaning to our lives, no lessons to be learned, and no salvation to be had. I am glad we have a loving Heavenly Father and Brother to help us become just like Them.

Jesus has many scripture stories of healing the sick. From curing the blind to raising the dead, Jesus has shown that through His mercy, all may be saved. I know I have seen Jesus Christ’s healing in my life. Back in 2014, I had an aunt diagnosed with cancer. She was told she would not have that long to live, and as a single mother with two children, it was not the best news to hear. We were prepared for the worst; the kids were sent to live with other family members so they would not have to see their mother in such poor condition. After a year, she had not passed, and so the kids were sent back home to be with their mother for as long as she could handle them. The kids were able to live with their mother for three more years after that, watching their mother as she slowly got worse, but came back to the church and did all she could before she moved to the next life. She passed away a year ago, a full testimony in the healing power of Christ to keep her here long enough to see her children come back and learn what they could about the church. She should not have been able to live that long, but she did. While she didn’t overcome her battle with cancer, she never let go until she had to.

Jesus Christ is most known for His death and subsequent resurrection from crucifixion. Through Christ’s death, we are able to be saved from our own physical deaths. Before the death of Christ, no souls were able to be resurrected, but because of His sacrifice, we are able to join our beloved brother and our Heavenly Parents when we pass from this world. Not only this, but we will have all our worldly infirmities healed, giving us perfect bodies without any pain or discomfort we may have known in life. Christ’s healing death was the key we needed to be able to be just like Him and return to our home on high. Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, a loving and caring man who has done all He can to make sure we can follow Him and return to our homes again.

As a teacher, Jesus Christ is the best example. Through His stories and parables, He was able to teach very complex doctrine to the people around Him and to us. His sincere, faith-filled testimonies and teachings have inspired the testimonies of all of us, keeping our faith steadfast and immovable. Through this, He keeps us away from a spiritual death. If we are ever going through a time of doubt or if our faith becomes tested, the teachings of Christ and His works in the scriptures can help lead us to the right path. Through Christ-centered missionary work, we are able to help others emerge from darkness and into the spiritual light of Christ. His works are plenty and great, and His teachings are our rock. Through His words and testimonies of Him, we can help others get back on the path of righteousness.

Jesus Christ has done so much to make sure we can return home again after we die, but there is not much He can do if we have not gotten the gospel in our mortal life. Because of this, Jesus Christ gave us ways to help our fallen brothers and sisters who are dead through temple ordinances. Baptisms for the dead can make sure even those who never heard a word of the gospel can be taught in the afterlife and then be given the opportunity to accept baptism. Through Christ, we can all make sure we are forever connected to our ancestors. We can make sure everyone who accepts the gospel can make it to the Celestial Kingdom to be with our loving Heavenly Father and Mother. We can see those we love who have passed on, and we can be married for time and all eternity. Christ’s healing love can make sure our eternities are spent like they should be, surrounded by our family.
